If you wanted to find African Americans in Colorado during the twentieth century it was simple, head to the Harlem of the West, Five Points located in northeast Denver. Well times have changed. Colorado no longer has a geographical African American community and a major question posed by most newcomers to the state is: How do I connect with the Black community? Good question!
Connecting with African Americans in Colorado is like a game of connect the dots. It can be frustrating, however, with a little perseverance you can succeed. There are key individuals and organizations you must become familiar with.
A great way to connect some dots is by coming to Juneteenth 2008: The Rebirth. Its happening Saturday June 14, 2008 from 10am-6pm in the historic 5 Points. We will be there!
Go ahead read my post on Juneteenth 2008: The Rebirth. In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions on how to connect with Colorado’s African American community, post a comment. You may have a dot someone needs!

Thanks Bro Jeff for the Blog. Then thanks to everyone working to make Juneteenth 2008 rebirth a success. It’s sad to say but you can find more Blacks in Canon City, CO than anywhere else. Otherwise try the cities of Denver or Colorado Springs. Then my best suggestion would be to find a copy of Brother Jeff’s Community Guide. The obvious idea is to attend Juneteenth 2008.
